Pascoe Industries developed ECC Repair Putty as a practical epoxy repair and rebuild compound for correcting surface imperfections and producing a smoother, more consistent profile before rubber lining, coating or refurbishment work. ECC Repair Putty is currently used for Weld Profile Correction, Steel Refurbishment and Rubber Lining Preparation.
Preparing steelwork correctly before rubber lining or applying protective coatings is critical to the long-term performance of the finished system.
Weld undercut, sharp transitions, surface pitting, grinding marks and irregular fabrication profiles can create weak points beneath a lining. These defects may contribute to poor adhesion, trapped air, uneven lining thickness and premature failure.
What Is ECC Repair Putty?
ECC Repair Putty is a high-performance, two-component epoxy compound designed for rebuilding, bonding and surface correction applications.
Its non-slump consistency allows it to be applied to horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces, making it suitable for workshop fabrication, maintenance and refurbishment projects where conventional liquid epoxy systems may be difficult to control.
ECC can be used on correctly prepared substrates including:
- Steel
- Ceramic
- Fibreglass-reinforced plastic
- Other compatible industrial surfaces
The product has been developed for demanding fabrication and maintenance environments where strong adhesion, controlled application and a durable repair are required.
Weld Profile Correction Before Rubber Lining:
One of the primary applications for ECC Repair Putty is the correction of weld profiles before rubber lining. Rubber lining generally performs best when it is applied over a clean, continuous and correctly prepared surface. Sharp edges, deep undercut, uneven weld transitions and abrupt changes in profile can make it difficult to achieve consistent lining contact.
ECC Repair Putty can be used to:
- Fill weld undercut
- Smooth irregular weld transitions
- Repair grinding marks

- Rebuild areas where excessive grinding has removed material

Sharp internal corners and irregular transitions can increase stress within rubber linings and protective coatings. ECC can be shaped and finished to create a smoother radius between adjoining surfaces, welds and fabricated sections. This helps provide a more suitable surface for the subsequent lining or coating system.

ECC Repair Putty has been developed to withstand the elevated temperatures associated with steam vulcanisation processes used for selected rubber lining systems.
This makes it suitable for weld profile correction and refurbishment work completed before vulcanised rubber lining, subject to correct surface preparation, product application and cure.
The compatibility of the complete repair and lining system should be confirmed before use, particularly where unusual temperatures, chemicals or service conditions are involved.
Surface Preparation Is Essential:
As with any industrial epoxy repair, the performance of ECC depends heavily on correct surface preparation. The substrate should generally be:
- Structurally sound
- Clean and dry
- Free from oil, grease and contamination
- Free from loose corrosion, scale and poorly bonded coatings
- Mechanically prepared to produce a suitable surface profile
Exact preparation requirements will depend on the substrate, operating environment and project specification. Applying an epoxy compound over a contaminated or poorly prepared surface may significantly reduce adhesion and repair life.
